Junior Leadership Scott County (Jr. LSC)

2025 PROGRAM OVERVIEW

Junior Leadership Scott County is an eight-week leadership program tailored to high school Sophomores, Juniors, and Seniors from any Scott County public or private school, including home-schooled students. The program is sponsored by Leadership Scott County, Georgetown/Scott County Chamber of Commerce, and the local business community.

The mission of Junior Leadership Scott County (Jr. LSC) is to encourage youth to develop a knowledge, sensibility, and action plan to lead in this community.

Fun – Enjoying the journey Participants in Jr. LSC will have the opportunity to:
Build leadership skills
Practice professionalism
Meet community leaders
Learn about a variety of community-relevant topics
Network with other young leaders

These opportunities will take the form of informational sessions, interactive sessions, on-site visits, tours, and community service.

Participant Responsibilities: If accepted, you will be required to:
Commit to attending all of the sessions
Pay the $75 fee at Orientation. Some scholarships are available
Participate in community service independently or with your Jr. LSC classmates
Ensure you have transportation to/from each session
Ask questions of the speaker related to leadership and leadership roles
Cell Phone Etiquette
Actively participate
Complete a program evaluation after each class session Schedule: All classes are held on a Thursday, 6-8 PM unless otherwise noted
January 16 - Orientation February 13 - Non-Profit Community
January 25 - Retreat 9 AM-3 PM (Saturday) February 22 - Healthcare & First Responders
January 30 - Education/Trade/Career/Soft Skills February 27 - Toyota Tour & Pizza
February 6 - Business & Economic Development March 6 - Graduation Dinner & Class Presentation

Application Process: The selection process for Jr LSC is competitive and requires the following: Submit all your materials together to: Junior Leadership Scott County 160 E. Main St. Georgetown, KY 40324 OR EMAIL: laura@gtown.org
All materials must be received by 4 pm, Monday, December 2, 2024. Late, incomplete or AI applications will not be considered.
If you are selected for the 2025 Junior Leadership class, you will be notified via email by Monday, December 16, 2024

Under special circumstances the admissions committee may grant an excused absence, but will only consider doing so if you provide an adequate explanation in your application.
